TIPS FOR TRAVEL NURSES
Tips for Travel Nurses
Are you hired for a new travel nursing assignment? Congratulations! Ensure that you pack everything you might need during the assignment: Education/employment documents, ID’s, Certification cards, Medical records and any other paperwork you may require.
Arrive at your destination two days in advance to explore things out, this will help avoid going late for work on the first day of your assignment.
Make sure you are familiar with the Shift schedule and on which days you’re expected to work.
You most likely are watched on your first shift, the staff doesn’t know your skill level yet. Just keep calm and do your job
Be flexible! Understand that you are taking an assignment because of a staffing shortage and your help is very much appreciated!
Be open to change! Try to keep an open mind, a positive attitude, and a smile on your face at all times
Don’t forget that patient care is always your top priority. Do not get caught up in politics or gossip
If the hospital you are on Assignment has a cell phone policy, make sure to adhere to the policy
Know your new home: Explore hotels, local pharmacy, and grocery store and make yourself familiar with the locality of your assignment
Using Internet will help you stay in touch with family and friends; online banking allows you to manage your funds online as well. Don’t forget your Smartphone, laptop, tablet, GPS navigation system, camera, etc. Travel nursing is an exciting experience so travel to as many sights as you can!
